This is the beta-release download site for the most recent version of MEGAN 7. Both the program and the mapping files are under testing.

MEGAN7 Ultimate Edition installers (require license key)

MEGAN7 Ultimate Edition is licensed by Computomics GmbH. Apply for a trial license here. The Ultimate Edition comes with the latest KEGG classification and pathway files.

NCBI-nr:

(Gzipped files should not be un-gzipped. Zipped files must be unzipped.)

Clustered nr90:

Here we provide a clustered version of the full NCBI-nr database (clustered at 90 percent identity using DIAMOND) and corresponding mapping files.

The nr90 reference file (use this to build a DIAMOND index): nr90.gz
The MEGAN nr90 mapping database (Community Edition): megan-nr90-r1.zip
The MEGAN nr90 mapping database (Ultimate Edition): megan-nr90-ue-r1.zip

Clustered nr50:

Here we provide a clustered version of the full NCBI-nr database (clustered at 50 percent identity using DIAMOND) and corresponding mapping files. These clusters have been run through DIAMOND reassignment.

Genomic alignment:

If you are aligning against a DNA database that uses NCBI accessions, then using this MEGAN mapping database: megan-genome-r1.zip

Using Silva with MEGAN:

There are two ways to work with MEGAN and Silva, see the discussion here. (a) if you want to use the Silva taxonomy, then use the files provided a here.

(b) It you want to report the taxonomic content using the NCBI taxonomy, the use one of the two following mapping files.

If you are aligning against the Silva database SSU database SILVA_138.2_SSURef_NR99_tax_silva then use this file for mapping: SSURef_138.2_Nr99_tax_silva_to_NCBI.map.gz.

If you are aligning against the Silva LSU database SILVA_138.2_LSURef_NR99_tax_silva then use this file for mapping: LSURef_138.2_Nr99_tax_silva_to_NCBI.map.gz.
